Unlike everyone else I'm not mad at what Andrew Parloff said. Besides a few people how many people had the Bengals at 5-2 after seven games?
I know they had a easy first half schedule. Let's not kid ourselves, the Jags, Colts, Seahawks and Browns all suck. But the good thing is they won those games. It's doesn't matter what the final score is, the only thing that matters is a W and not an L.
The only way to change peoples mind is to go out and win against the best teams in the NFL. So I say bring on the Steelers and Ravens.

After Thoughts: Cincinnati Bengals vs Seattle Seahawks 10/31/2011

Someone pinch me. Seriously wake me the fuck up. Are we really 5-2?

The Seahawks are a weird team. You don't know if they are a decent team or a shitty team. One week they are playing pretty good and the next week they are stinking it up. Add that to the fact that the Bengals are not very good when they are playing in the West coast, kind of like the Cincinnati Reds.

Before I forget let's give a round of applause for Marvin Lewis who has more wins that any other Bengals coach.
The Seahawks out gained the Bengals by 159 yards and still lost the game by 22 points. That's what happens when defense and special teams step ups their game. The defense again bending but not breaking.
In back to back game the defense scored a  touchdown late in the game, and that's how you close out a football game.

Andy Dalton struggled in the second half as he threw for two int's. But that sweet toss to A.J. Green was a thing of beauty just dropping it over the shoulder and right into his hand.



Next game will be a bigger test for Dalton and Offense as they travel down to Nashville to face the Titans.
The Titans are 4-3 and has a pretty good defense.

Adam Pacman Jones came in and had one good play then was out again with a hammy injury. The dude just can't seem to catch a break.

Who else was happy for Nelson? He really wan't having a good game but then he made some outstanding plays, one was the INT for TD and the other was stopping Lynch as time winding down at the end of first half.

After Thoughts: Indianapolis Colts vs Cincinnati Bengals 10/16/2011

Who Dey!

I really mean it. Who Dey!
The Bengals beat the Colts 27-17.
A three game winning streak is good for my health and for many others in the Tri-State. Just wish the boys in stripes didn't let the game get so close late in the 4th.

I know I wasn't the only one worried when the Colts started to run the no-huddle in the 4th. They seemed to move the ball easily on the defense.

The turning point of the game easily have to be Carlos Dunlaps fumble return for a TD to give the Bengals some breathing room. Something that should not be overlooked is how well both Whitworth and Smith played against Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney. The one person the defense had to key in on was Garcon, and they did just that. Garcon was limited to 8 catches for 52 yards.

To me one things is becoming clear and that is Bernard Scott is not a future back. He sure can be a spark plug but nothing more. And that man Brian Leonard is reliable as the Sun, always there to pick up those first down in critical situations.

Mr. A.J. Green continues his seller rookie campaign with another TD. And Red Riffle also continues his outstanding rookie campaign. Dalton had a 111.5 QB rating with 1 TD and 264 yards.
With the bye week coming up, it will the perfect time to work on some of their issues such as ill timed penalties, and inconsistency in the run game.



PS. Lets not forget, with this win Marvin Lewis ties Sam Wyche for the most wins in franchise history.

Double PS. Jerome Simpson needs to stop spraying Pam on his gloves. I know he had a big day but him dropping balls has been a problem all season long.

Looking Forward:Indianapolis Colts vs Cincinnati Bengals Preview

The Bengals are expected to get another win when they face off against the struggling Colts.

The biggest news might be the absence of middle linebacker Ray Maualuga, who is expected to miss with an ankle injury.

The one things that's swirling around the inter webs is the performance of Cedric Benson. Is this the game where Bernard Scott get a few more carries than he has been getting?

The last few weeks, the Bengals have struggled to establish the running game. The good news is the Colts are struggling to stop the run so this is a good time to fix that.

I also wouldn't mind if the Bengals threw the ball around. A.J. Green is leading all rookie WR's in yards and TD's.

The one player the Bengals defense has to keep a sharp eye on is Pierre Garcon who has 271 yards and four TD's in the past two games. The defense also has to keep an eye out for Dallas Clark who usually manages to carve out the Bengals in the middle. 

I expect the Bengals to come out with a win in another tight game.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Jacksonville Jaguars Recap 10/09/2011

In a battle of rookie QB's, our boy red rifle outperformed Blaine Gabbert to lead the Bengals to a 30-20 come from behind win.

This game was not pretty in anyway, but a win is a win and that's all that matters.

To me the biggest play of the game had to be when Marvin decided to go for it on 4th and 6th with a little over 4 minutes left in the game. Instead of kicking a field goal to cutting the lead down to 19-20, the Bengals actually went for it and ended up with a TD. I honestly didn't think Marvin had guts to go for it, not because he never takes many chances, but because 3rd down has been a struggle for the Bengals all season long.


Both Dalton and Green had another solid outing as they continue their impressive rookie campaign.
Dalton ended up with 179 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT. And Green ended up with 5 catches for 90 yards and  a TD.




The running game was just horrendous against the Jags. With the offensive line unable to create many openings, Benson had a hard time getting going. But what a great call on 3rd and goal, when everyone thought it was going to be a pass, Jay Gruden call for a simple inside hand off to Bernard Scott.

With only one blown coverage by the defense that lead to a Jason Hill TD, the defense again played an outstanding second half.
The defense kept up pressure on Blaine Gabbert through out the game. It seemed like Gabbert had a hard time getting into any kind of rhythm. This Bengals defense truly seems like a top 5 defense.

With this win the Bengals are keeping pace with division leaders Steelers and Ravens.

Who else think both Mike Nugget and Hubber and early season team MVP candidates?

Both Dalton and Green had another solid outing to continue their impressive rookie campaign.

I'm glad the boys on the D-line got a well deserved TD.

Buffalo Bills vs Cincinnati Bengals Recap 10/02/2011

Another Bengals game at PBS and another blacked out game in Cincinnati. But that didn't stop the Bengals from rallying for a 23-20 win over the Bills.



I must say this was one of the best games I have seen at PBS. The 41K that showed up enjoyed one of the best games ever and those fans deserved it.

This win gave Marvin the all time tie for the most wins in Bengals history.

I'll admit the first half was ugly, just like how it was against the 49ers. There was nothing pretty about it. Just punts and turnovers. If it wasn't for the turnovers, the Bills would of had a hard time putting some points on the board.

The second half started off much better than how the first half ended. The offense came out with a strong running game as they easily moved the ball down the field, but to only settle for a field goal. The next offensive drive ended much better as Dalton hooked up with Gresham for a 17 yard TD to make the score 17-13.



After another punt on offense, the Bengals again drove 80 yards for a QB draw for a TD. This would tie the game at 20 all.

If it wasn't for the Bengals defense, this game would have been long over with. The defense held the high offense of the Bills to only 3 points in the second half.

So what does this win mean? Well it means, these Bengals have little different DNA in them than some previous Bengals teams.
This also shows me, the Bengals defense is legit. Giving up only 20 points (actually only 13) to a top three offense is something to cheer about.
This game also shows me that Andy Dalton is legit. He showed he has what it takes to lead this team. He has the toughness, the quality, the leadership and poise, all the things that's hard to find a rookie QB.
And A.J. Green keeps showing us why is a first round pick. It's the second time Green has gone over 100 yards. In four games, Green has 312 yards on 17 receptions.



Now I think back to that Denver game. Where the Bengals couldn't convert on so many 3rd and short yardage situations. Looking back now I wish Marvin wasn't a self appointed Meteorologist, instead of going  for it on 4th down just wished he sent Nugent our there for a game winnig field goal.

Honestly the Bengals have been in every single game they have played, could of easily started the season 4-0. Just saying.
Looking forward to next week, it's another winnable game as they are set to play the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bengals Bills Pre-Game Wrap Up

Since the Bengals haven't beat the Bills in the last 10 match ups and our last win against them was way back on January 8 1989 you wouldn't think I would get up on my Pulpit and preach a win, but thats exactly what I'm doing. IF we can stick to all of the outlined points.

1. Don't loose sight of our running game - In the last two games, both losses, we've got away with what we can do best, the run game. This could also be a great time to get Bernard Scott in the mix to give a little change of pace. We should try to isolate him in space and let him make plays especially if Benson is going to be suspended even for one game. Lets get Scott some work.

2. No turnovers/create turnover - if we are able to beat Buffalo we need to win the turnover battle, the Bills picked Tom Brady off 4 times last game which was key to their win we need to turn the tables, again stick to the run game and stop Fitzpatrick who is a gunslinger who will make questionable throws, which leads me to my next point.

3. Get to Fitz while keeping him contained - Our Defensive Line needs to have their best game yet, we all seen Fitzpatrick getting outside the pocket and making big plays so even if they cant get to him we need to keep him in the pocket and tip some balls.

4. Protect Dalton - We've have gave up 7 sacks this season which to me is pretty good and Dalton has done a good job of getting rid of the ball plus his not afraid to throw it away instead of throwing a bad pick. If we can dominate their DLine and give Dalton time to throw we could see him return to the way he locked against the Broncos.

5.Better clock management - I was screaming and pleading at the TV screen last week at the end of the first half when Marvin was happy to let over a minute and a half tick off with just a 3-0 lead. little things like this could cost a game against a team like the Bills who can put up points.
My final point, 6. Lets convert some third downs - I didn't look it up but I assume we're last place in the league in third down efficiency. We couldn't get those pesky third and 1's early in the season and last week it was the third and longs thanks to incomplete passes on 1st and 2nd downs. This Offensive team has a lot of work to do.
We haven't played against teams that took deep shots down the field yet, our safeties will have to answer some pass defense questions today. Especially Crocker who's been known to take bad angles to break up a pass in years past. Heres my player to watch;

Offence - Gresham
Defense - Maualuga
Special Teams - Tate (I got a feeling)

Looking Forward: Buffalo Bills vs Cincinnati Bengals Preview

Sure there won't be many people at PBS to watch the Bengals play the Bills, but does it really matter? The Bengals are on a 2 game loosing streak getting ready to face the undefeated Buffalo Bills. Before the season started I would of have given the Bengals a 50/50 chance of winning this game. But now after seeing the numbers the  Bills offense is putting up, I have a feeling it's gonna be a long day for the men in stripe.

Sure the Bengals are top 3 in total defense, but so are the Bills in total offense. Bills are lead by former Bengals QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is on an absolute freaking terror right now. Bills have solid passing game and a rushing game. But there defense is a little suspect

The offense, needs to pick it up on third downs and red zone plays. It has been a  real struggle in the past three games. The Bengals are ranked 26th in third down conversations.

There is also a chance of safeties Taylor Mays and Robert Sands seeing some action for the first time, which gives me more reason to worry about the Sundays clash. And seeing how Marvin is 0-5 against Bills is not helping either.

This is NFL, so anything can happen each Sunday. If the Bengals defense can play like a top 3 defense they will have a chance.

San Francisco 49ers vs Cincinnati Bengals Recap 9/25/2011

Before we start, can someone get me this shirt from Look At Me Shirts?

I watched the Bengals very first drive when they went 12 plays for 76 yards in 6 minutes and 16 seconds to get a field goal. Andy Dalton looked like he was going to have another solid start. Andre Cladwell looked like he was fitting in nicely at the no. 2 WR spot. After that first drive I was feeling pretty confident in the Bengals getting a win at home. So I decided to skip the rest of the game and go play some paint ball. I come back home 6 hours later and see the Bengals lost 13-8. WTF, was my first thought. That is such an ugly score line.

So after reading all the reviews and watching all the highlights, it was pretty evident it was an ugly, boring game. And in hindsight I was kind of happy I skipped the football game to go play paint ball.

It was a shame that the offense couldn't duplicate what they had done against the Browns or Broncos especially considering how the defense played. Alex Smith was sacked 5 times in this game. I don't even know the last time the Bengals front line put so much pressure on a QB. The 49ers didn't get on the board until the middle of the third quarter. The 49ers could only rack up 226 yards of total offense. Even with how badly the 49ers played, the Bengals found a way to lose the game.

If this was Andy Dalton's first game, I wouldn't of have been so surprised or upset. But this was his third game, maybe I got my hopes up too high considering how he played the previous two weeks. Maybe this was sobering reality check of how young and inexperienced the Bengals offense is. When you start three rookies and the play calling is done by a rookie offensive coordinator I guess it is normal to have days like this.

The one thing that continues to plague this offense is the inefficiencies on 3rd down. That was one of the main reasons they lost at Denver and it was the same reason they could not find an success against the 49ers.

Anyway, I like what Paul Daugherty had to say.
"Some games lend themselves to heavy analysis and lots of adjectives. This wasn’t one of those. The next time you curse a blacked-out Sunday, reflect on this blacked-out Sunday. That’ll stop you in your tracks."


Well if you want to live through the horse shit of a game that was played between the 49ers and Bengals.

Looking Forward: San Francisco 49ers vs Bengals Preview

The 1-1 49ers are coming to town to take on the 1-1 Bengals.

For the Bengals this another winnable game. But who know if they can pull off, with all the bad news that seems to coming. If have been living under a rock and didn't hear all the news, let me recap it for you.
Benson is suspend for three games and Jerome Simpson is under investiagion by the Feds for drug related charges. So two starters on offense is out.

But with Simpson most likely out, it will be up to Andre Cladwell to fill the void. Something tells me that Cladwell have a pretty good game. In all honesty, what has Simpson done in two games? He's had a couple of nice catches and whole lot of drops.

The Bengals have to watch out for Alex Smith, this is not the same QB that we have come to know. After two games he's got a 70% completion rate.

The Bengals offensive line needs to play well because the 49ers have a good defensive line and they have been able to pressure on the opposing QB with only the front four D-linemen.

The one player the Bengals needs to keep an eye on is Vernon Davis. How do you stop him? I don't know, maybe a whole lot of player and get to the QB really fast.

There are few players on each roster that knows the opponent pretty well. For the Niners, there are three former Bengals players, Ahmad Brooks, Madieu Williams, and Justin Smith. For the Bengals they have former Niners Manny Lawson, Nate Clements, Taylor Mays.

It should be an even matched game for the most part. Bot are average or below average teams.

Investigation Into Cincinnati Bengals Jerome Simpson And Anthony Collins

Just when I started to forgive Jerome Simpson for his drops vs. Broncos, he gets busted for some high grade marijuana stuff. Now I'm starting to wonder why he dropped all those passes.

All the details are not out yet, but I got a feeling, he's gonna be in trouble with the law and the NFL. So him starting next Sunday looks like a long long long fucking shot.

If you have been living under a rock, and didn't hear what went down. The news is, feds intercepted some high quality sticky icky stuff from California that was set to Jerome's house in Crestview Hills, KY.

"Cincinnati Bengals teammates Jerome Simpson and Anthony Collins, both 25, were at Simpson’s home in Crestview Hills, Ky., yesterday when a package allegedly containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana arrived at the house in what authorities called a controlled delivery.

A third person, Aleen Smith, allegedly signed for the package, which was sent from Eureka, Calif., and intercepted in Sacramento, authorities said.All three were questioned at the residence, but no arrests were made at the time.

Inside the home, police allegedly found six more pounds of marijuana, other empty parcels, scales and packaging material.

“The house was set up as a potential distribution network,” said Tommy LaNier, head of the National Marijuana Initiative, a group that is funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy and helps coordinate marijuana enforcement operations around the United States.

Usually where there is smoke, there is fire. But I'm not gonna jump to conclusion and say he smoked weed and he was selling some stuff to make a living. But damn, it's his house, how does he not know if someone smoking or dealing marijuana in the house. That high quality stuff is stinky as a skunk.

Now news is that his twitter account is gone, and his website is down. So something is going down.

Now comes the bigger question. Who's gonna be the #2 starting WR against the 49ers?

Cincinnati Bengals vs Denver Broncos Recap 9/18/2011

Bengals start the season 2-0.

I really did write that before the game was over. I had such a good feeling going into the fourth quarter. Unfortunately the Bengals lost to the Broncos 22-24

As a fan, to me this game was lost on 3rd downs. The Bengals were 1-11 on 3rd situations. That's just a terrible stat.

If J. Simpson stop spraying pam on his gloves and catches a few more balls he will be a constant threat. If he didn't drop that wide open pass in the 4th quarter the ending to this game would have been different.

I really didn't know where to start. The offense was bad in the first half, then the offense got going in the second half. But the defense gave up some unfortunate big plays in the second half. The Eric Decker touchdown in the fourth was a dagger. Even after that, the Bengals had two opportunities to take the lead.

I don't think I can blame the players for this lost. I blame it on the coaching staff for those hideous play calling on the 3rd and short yardage situations.

I have to ask, why is that when the Bengals are stuck in short yardage situations they always line up in the I formation and try to run the ball? I know Ced is good and I know the O line is good, but sometimes you just have to out think the opponents rather than out muscle them.

Before we get to all the good things that happened, I want to bitch about one more thing. What the fuck is Brandon Tate doing on this team? Tate has been more useless the Quan Cosby, and he sucked. If the Bengals had some guts, they would cut him before getting on the plane.

Ok, enough about my disappointing rants. There was a lot of good things that came from this football game. Dalton has to be an early candidate for Rookie of the year. Dalton threw for 332 yards with 2 TD.
A.J. Green is good as advertised, as he went for 10 catches for 124 yards and one TD. Oh, I almost forgot, and that catch by A.J. Green. With this game, he has officially announced his arrival in the NFL. The offense did not turn the ball over except when they turned it over on down at the end of the game.

Except one or two bad plays, the defense again played pretty well. They got a turnover, they kept pressure on Orton through out the game. But unfortunately they were gashed for 129 yards on the ground.

It's just really upsetting that the Bengals lost to basically the Broncos second string unit.

But I also have to give credit to those Broncos backups as the stopped the Bengals offense to the final two drive with the Bengals only needing a FG to win the game.

The Bengals on offense is growing, which is good news if you look at their schedule. Their upcoming game are against some weak teams (49ers, Bills, Jags, Colts, Seahawks). Could easily have a winning record before they face the Steelers on Nov 13th. But again this is the NFL and we are talking about the Bengals and could go 1-7 befor Nov. 13th.

Is This The 2012 Nike Bengals Jersey?

So I guess Nike is taking over the jersey deal from Reebok or something. Anyway, I know I'm in the minority here but I like what Nike has done with college jersey. Something about that future combat/warrior stuff just works for me.

So my big question is what will the Bengals jersey look like? I been calling for a jersey change for a while now. I'm tired of looking at at that helmet.

Honestly I don't like the first one, I feel like all that color and maze like pattern is terrorizing my eyeballs. Still looks wilder that Lady Gaga's outfit. The second one looks good and clean, but what is up with the blue? I never seen a blue tiger. It needs to black or orange.

Looking Forward: Bengals vs Broncos

The good news is Andy Dalton was full go in practice, so it's safe to assume he'll be ready for Sunday. If not, Gradkowski will get the start, after all he did bring the Bengals back for a win, even if it was on a fluke play.

For once there might be another team in the NFL that is more disorganized than the Bengals. So Sunday should present a great opportunity for the Bengals to start 2-0. Even though Kyle Orton is not getting much love from the Broncos fans, he is still a dangerous QB that can put up some numbers.

But if the Bengals defense can continue to put the pressure on Orton as they did on McCoy and have no turnover on offense, this should be a winnable game.

There is also a good chance Champ Bailey might not play, currently he's listed as questionable. The one play the Bengals need to keep an eye on is the No. 2 pick the draft in Von Miller.

I think the one place the Bengals have a clear advantage is at the line of scrimmage. As I was watching the MNF game (Raiders vs Broncos), it was evident the O-line and the D-line of the Broncos were being dominated by the Raiders.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns Recap 9/11/2011

What a better way to start your NFL career than face the instate rival in Cleveland Browns. With many familiar faces gone from the team this was different look Bengals, and It was evident it the play as they beat the Cleveland Browns 27-17.

I'm not sure if Andy Dalton's first career start got off to a smooth start as he marched the Bengals down the field to get a Mike Nugent 24 field goal as the Bengals took an early 3-0 lead.

In his second series, Andy Dalton led the Bengals down the  field for a 2 yard hook up with Jermaine Gresham to extend the Bengals lead to 10-0.

All along the Bengals defense has been putting pressure on the Browns who had to settle for three straight punts before they got on the score board.

On the next two Browns possession Colt McCoy led this teams to two straight touchdowns to give the Browns a 14-13 lead going into half-time, mostly assisted by two blown coverage on defense. 

The second half was a defensive battle, until the Browns feel asleep at the line of scrimmage and the Bengals ran a quick snap count to get A.J. Green wide open for a 41 yard hook up from the backup QB Gradkowski.

That touchdown put the Bengals up 20-17, from there on it was all about the Bengals defense. The defense stepped up when their name was called. Everything the Browns tired to do, the defense stopped.

And just to put a little cherry on top, Cedric Benson on 3rd and 3 with less than 2 minutes left, got a rushing touchdown to put the Bengals up 27-17.

I have to admit, I didn't give much of a chance to the Bengals after Dalton went out with a wrist injury. I don't think anyone put any faith in Bruce Gradkowski to rally this team for a win, but he did.

Major props goes to the defense for winning the line of scrimmage and for no penalties. Also credit goes to the offense for no turnovers.

Special credit goes to Dunlap, he kept putting pressure on McCoy though out the game. Also give credit to Nelson for making big hit after big hit. The offensive line played really well, kept both the QB's safe and protected though out the game.

On a side note, Dalton was 10 of 15 with 81 yard and one TD with a passer rating of 102.5. Those numbers would have been much better if some of the WR's didn't drop a few balls.
