Easy money

What's not to like about issue 3?

If you ask me only a few, but lets start with the positives.
Tax revenues of $20.9 million a year to Cincinnati, $12.2 million to Hamilton County and $14.1 million to the county's school districts.
Having a casino would keep more money in Ohio, instead of giving it to neighboring states.
With Issue 3, Ohio voters are being offered the clearest and best choice they've had in the two decade long debate over casinos.
And some what of an increase in employment, not sure about those 15,000 permanent jobs they are talking about.

Some of the things I do not like about the casino issue.
One of the problems I have is the proposed placement of the casino in Cincinnati. I do not like the idea of putting it at Broadway Commons. It needs to be on the river front.
The other is the ridiculously low licensing fees, while neighboring states got nearly much as 250 million in fees, Ohio is only asking for about 50 million.
One thing I worry about is that the revenue from taxes will give Ohio yet another excuse to avoid eliminating waste.
What Cincinnati can do is to take the tax money from casinos and put into the Cincy streetcar project (brilliant).
For those who think this will bring down the families of Ohio, I could not disagree with you more. If people wanted to gamble, nothing will hold them back from driving 30 minutes to Indiana.
But if you believe going to a casino is a waste of money I hear you, that’s why even though I support issue 3, I will never go to a casino.
But my bigger concern is will it have a negative impact on local downtown business like bars and restaurants?
