Bengals 2011 Draft Preview: Defensive Backs

The Bengals have two solid CB's in Leon Hall and Johnathan Joseph. But the Bengals have no Safeties.Chris Crocker and Roy Williams have not done themselves any favors. They are past their prime and needs to step aside.

The big question is will the Bengals resign Johnathan Joseph or not. If they choose to let him go, will Adam "Pac Man" Jones become the new starting CB opposite of Leon Hall? Or will they sign on the free agent CB's?
Several cornerbacks are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents, which includes names like Champ Bailey, Ronde Barber, Antonio Cromartie, Ike Taylor, Brent Grimes and Carlos Rogers. I can easily see the Bengals sign JJ to a new contract.
But if the Bengals choose not to sign a free agent CB, there are some good young prospects in this years NFL draft.

Top CB in the 2011 NFL draft:
Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Chimdi Chekwa, CB, Ohio State
Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado

As far as the safety position goes, for all I care the Bengals can start from scratch. Because everyone that played last season sucks or they are on their last leg of their career.
In my opinion, the safety position should be one of the Bengals top priorities. Ant this years class is very deep and I'm sure the Bengals can pick up a good safety in the later rounds.

Top Safteties in the 2011 NFL Draft:
Rahim Moore, FS, UCLA
Quinton Carter, FS, Oklahoma
Ahmad Black, S, Florida
Robert Sands, S, West Virginia
Tyler Sash, SS, Iowa
Jeron Johnson, SS, Boise State
