Bengals 2011 Draft Preview: Quarterbacks

It would have been nice to not talk about drafting a Quarterback. But since Carson Palmer is retiring and brother Jordan Palmer is holding minicamp workouts we are left with no choice but to talk about drafting a QB.

Does anyone have faith in the Bengals landing a decent free agent QB or trading for a QB? Yea, didn't think so.
So that leaves us with Jordan Palmer and Dan LeFevour on the roster. And I can't put enough faith in those two guys to get us more wins than loses. Which leaves us with the draft.
Supposedly the top two QB's  in the NFL drafts are Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert. Sure Cam is one great athlete, but will he be a good QB in the NFL? And Blaine Gabbert, I can't figure this guy out. What in the world has he done for him to get all the hype? At least Cam played in a very touch conference, and on the other hand Gabbert played in a pass happy conference and he still has very average stats.
If the Bengals are going to draft a QB, then I say trade down and get someone later in first or wait until the second round.

Here are some top QB prospects.

Cameron Newton, Auburn
Blaine Gabbert, Missouri
Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State
Andy Dalton, QB, TCU
Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada
Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
T.J. Yates, QB, North Carolina
